-ZR 下面为大家整理一篇优秀的paper代写范文- The Internet and the Public Life,供大家参考学习,这篇论文讨论了互联网与公共生活。
The Introduction of Media The description of the media has changed from toy to tool and this change has appeared in the metaphor toys, mirror and art from Levenson (1997), the pupil of McLuhan. When the media entered in the society, it was regarded as a kind of gadget firstly. Contemporary media is a kind of network media which offers people the wide communication space. Through this platform, people can make the comment, give the feedback and share the information. Because of its characteristic of bilateral communication, people can conveniently form a community on online, and based on the common interesting topic, they can make a good communication to achieve a better connectivity. Around people, there are many kinds of Media: Twitter helps people to share their information; Facebook helps people to know their circle of friends and YouTube helps people to give their video sharing etc. In China, there are some Medias have developed maturely, like Blog, Renren, and Microblog etc. http://www.51due.net/writing/research-paper/sample31454.html Nowadays, countries around the world, especially in western countries, their economic property of media is enterprise, and their social property is providing public services, so there are many inevitable conflicts and contradictions existing. However, through transforming different roles, media keeps the balance of the public interests and the economic interests, and makes them be with the harmony of benefit relationship and be with the unified goal ( Imparato, 2000) . If comparing the society to a film, the media will play the different roles (Kim, 2005). Because of the transformation of media's roles, the voice of the people can be transmitted, and the various kinds of information can also be exchanged effectively. The Importance of Media Most of people have heard Watergate. President Nixon announced to resign in the second day on August 8, 1974, and he became the first chairman announcing to resign in the history of America. One of the important reasons why Nixon resigned is that the Watergate on June 17 in the same year. Watergate was reported by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, two journalists of the Washington Post. As the two journalists who had tracking reports, the public outcry was heard at home and around the world. Eventually, under the strong pressure, President Nixon was forced to resign. So, television, magazines and the Internet have influenced people’s life, such as culture, policy, economy, etc. The Development of Media As developing of the Internet video and the tools of chatting, especially mobile Wechat, which represented the development and application of new media, the communication among people, methods of education and patterns of transmission have changed greatly (Martin,2013). These new Medias speed up the people absorbing information and increase people's accesses to gain information. The coexistence of many kinds of information have influenced and changed people's thoughts and behaviors, so that it has brought the new opportunities and challenges to the new tape of political education. Facing the characteristics of new Media, such as the interactivity and convenience, the vast and sharing, the multimedia and hypertext etc, people can realize the necessity of keeping up with the times. The Introduction of the Internet As people known, the Internet, as one of the important media, has been accepted and used in the most of family (Lockman, 2000). At the same time, a serious question people may ask is that does using the internet strengthen democracy and public activities or lead them to weaken? The answer is that different people, different view. With the rapid development of modern electronic information, people have accepted and released information all the time. Especially student can understand receive and spread education information anytime and anywhere beyond the geographical restrictions. For college students, the Internet has influenced their behavior patterns, value orientation, political attitudes, psychological development, and t moral concepts. The Positive Influences of the Internet The Internet has the dual effects on the work of political education. The Internet has become an important way to collect the international public opinions, and has become a necessary filed of the political education. Network culture has become one of important factors that affect students’ morality and the value orientation. On the one hand, the Internet has the positive influences: Firstly, because of the increasing sharply of information and the diversification of channels students broaden horizons, understand the development of the world situation, improve their ability, and move closer to the advanced technology. As the continuous appearing of computers and communication technology, the functions of the Internet increase gradually and create the rare opportunities to the development of news and the propaganda of ideology (Colebatch, 2003). There is no limit on the layout of the Internet, and the database can save all news and information have been published, so people can get the information through electronic newspapers of different regions and different countries in the Internet but not have to go out to look for. Different from television, radio, newspapers, and journals, in the Internet, people can completely free to publish their ideas and their own speech, known as the Internet works. Now there are many web pages similar to personal media emerging in the domestic Internet, such as personal homepage, electronic bulletin board, and E-mail magazine, etc. The co-positive forms of propaganda in the Internet will strengthen the attraction and appeal of the propaganda and ideological work. Secondly, the Internet expands the space of political education to free from the geographical restrictions and to a certain degree, it promote the ideological process of the modern political education. Unlike traditional media, the Internet has made propaganda of ideological work become the regional globalization. The development of the Internet has made communication on online increasingly become an important means of communication. The direction of the future information technology is to put the paper-based information such as newspapers, magazines, periodicals, books and patent documents into the Internet to free from the regional restrictions. The Internet is regarded as "the fourth media" after the television, radio and newspaper. The Internet is a space of information communication among humans beyond geography. It gradually makes the ideal of global village be a reality. Therefore, using the Internet makes the globalization of the educational work; the change of the result affects the economization of the ideological work. It makes the transmission of news becomes extremely convenient and saves the time of transmission of news. For the propaganda and ideological work, the characteristics of the Internet provide new opportunities to make full use of the resources of global network. Setting up the websites on the Internet can share different resources promptly, effectively and adequately. The rapid development of the Internet brings many favorable factors to the propaganda and ideological work in colleges and universities. It broadens the students' horizons, enriches the students' knowledge, and provides the scientific and modernized premise for the propaganda and ideological work (Damm and Thomas, 2006). Using the Internet can directly declare people’s views, positions and propositions so that it expands their social circles and enhances the influence of the publicity and ideological work. Universities strengthen the publicity of the ideological and moral education for students on the Internet can greatly improve students' ideological and moral education effectively. To strengthen the propaganda of regulations on the Internet can make the students learn the advanced science and technology, and at the same time they can gain information by learning the national laws, rules and disciplines. The Negative Influences of Internet On the other hand, the Internet has the negative influences: Firstly, at present, the Internet has been at the early stage. Few people know the hidden troubles clearly. In recent years, a large number of facts have shown that the Internet is the necessary way to achieve global information resources sharing, at the same time, it is also a threat to national security (Jamieson, 2005). It may threat the national economy and people's life, and it may corrode the soul of the nation. Secondly, diversified information also includes kinds of bad information, and it produces a serious challenge to the political work. With the Internet increasingly developing, the political work is brought the negative influence mainly including: (1) the information explosion disturbs the political work in colleges and universities; (2) bad tends in the development of markets weaken influence of political education; (3) information pollution makes education face a lot of severe challenges; (4) increasing foreign culture impacts on the political education; (5) the bidirectional information transmission makes the feedback information of the political education unclear. Most people lack for the ability to resist the temptation of hidden trouble of Internet and they are lack of social experience to distinguish the bad and the good. In particular, young students are lack of the ability to avoid the harmful effects (Hesse, 2010). Lots of bad information and the harmful information will make the young students be at a very disadvantage. This situation is not beneficial to operate the ideological and political education. Some Measures of Dealing with the Problems Facing the negative influences, people, society and government should take some measures to deal with the problems: Firstly, People should strengthen the network moral education. The high quality of people is the key to develop the Internet. By means of the network, strengthen the moral and ethical education for people, improve the network moral level of Internet users and promote the construction of Internet civilization. Pay attention to eliminate the negative impact of the content online and consciously resist the bad social influence of ideology and culture. Secondly, society should strengthen the political workers’ quality. For adapting to requirements of the Internet, the political workers must have good qualities, such as the strong consciousness, excellent ability and good ethic. In order to improve the qualities of the political workers, society should strengthen the political workers’ network knowledge training and guide them to be familiar with the rules of education. Only the political workers have certain information consciousness and ability, do they understand the network environment, the political information of the Internet, and tendency of times. They also can become the true qualified political workers in times of Internet. Finally, government should improve the quality of propaganda and publicity, and understand information timely (Tin, 2002). They need to strengthen the management of various home pages and websites as well as the illegal information deletion. They should grasp the direction of the public opinions. Government must always insist to guide people with the correct direction. Conclusion Every coin has two sides, the Internet has many advantages, it helps people gain the information of culture, policy, and economy conveniently, but the facts of using the Internet to commit a crime have existed. Some people use the Internet to spread the computer virus and destroy the computer's normal work. Therefore, when use the Internet, and also in order to keep using the Internet to enhance democracy and the public activities, people should be careful and use the Internet in the right ways. The United States has the world's best university and is rather proud of this. According to the US NEWS, an authority in ranking the colleges and universities, the top five universities in 2016 are Harvard University, MIT, University of California, Berkeley, Stanford University and Oxford (US news, 2016). The former four are colleges of the United States. Despite that the number of top colleges and universities in the US is the largest, it does not really mean or is not equal to that the education in the United States is perfect and flawless. American basic education has always been lackluster. In this essay, the educational problems at the elementary level will be discussed in a critical manner from three aspects: the incompetence in the mathematic and reading, the disadvantage of the ethnic minority in the elementary school and the diminishing of role of family in the elementary education, using the evidence both for the problems and against it. http://www.51due.net/writing/essay/sample31452.html The students of United States perform averagely or even poorly in terms of mathematic and reading. The United States high school students in various international competitions always occupied the last few places almost. Every year, many primary school graduates turn out to be functional illiterate as they could not use it in the daily life. In terms of specific knowledge, the literacy and numeracy skills of primary students are a limitation, even for students who have entered into the Ivy League. The achievement on literacy and numeracy skills belongs to only a small part of researcher and scholars. In 2012, the program for International Student Assessment (PISA) organized a program, held by the 65 countries and economies, it have the 15 year olds to participate in the exam, the student reading scores of the industrialized countries in 44 countries are at the general level (OECD, 2012). Compared with other industrialized countries, the daily reading level of American high school students is of the ordinary level. American students in math and science scores in two subjects are at the average level. But this level is not coordinated with the economical strength of the world power. In addition, the large part of scholastic aptitude test is composed of the mathematic and reading questions. So the mastery of mathematic and reading will ensure their future scholarly success to a large degree. To sum up, the importance of mathematic and reading could not be ignored based on the poor performance of students on that and the role of future development of kids. It is noted that there is an unbalance of literacy and scores between the white and the ethnic minority. One of the main reasons is the language advantage of the white kids as English is their mother tongue. But for those students of the immigrant background or from the family of lower social status, their mother tongue is non-English language. This poses great challenge to their reading, expressing and writing. For instance, the African American speaks another variety of English in their home and community: African American, which is long seen as the non-standard English. According to the 2013 National Report Card, the gap between white children's performances and their Hispanic and African-American counterparts, who scored much lower still exists, and have been existed for a rather long period of time (FOX19, 2013). The education of the ethnic minority faces serious and stubborn challenges as the overall performance of them is still worse than the white counterparts, which needs an effective and collaborative to improve it. The functions of family education are seriously degraded due to the less companion time with kids and lack of understanding of the education. This lack of quality time has became more and more common as more and more former housewives choose to walk out of the houses and find a place in the society. They do not pay attention to the children. In addition, as the pressure in the modern times continues to increase as a result of rising house prices and depressed economy, the parents find it hard hart to keep the bad emotions at the workplace only. In the long run, the indifference of relationship between parents and children is formed. Also, they seldom pay attention to the life of students at school. There is an old Chinese saying: teach students according to their aptitude. The parents should be the ones who know their children best and give individualized education. But the fact is that they fail to shoulder their responsibility of learning about their kids and the situation of elementary education. There are some counterarguments of the opinions mentioned above. Some argue that the bad role of families is because that they have a misunderstanding of the teachers. On the development of school policies and everyday business, American parents are voters and have more decision power than other countries. American parents generally believe that the responsibility of school teachers is just to impart knowledge to students. And teachers do not have the responsibility to shape the moral character of students. This causes US school teachers not to pay enough emphasis on moral education. American parents do not want to admit that teachers are professional career. Although they do not understand education, teachers feel qualified to find fault. However, I think this opinion talked about the same issue. Family and school education did not form a unified force as they in fact spend little time to know what the elementary is and their children’ s thoughts. Some argue that the situation of the mathematic and reading skills and gap between the white and others is exaggerated because the results of the program for International Student Assessment are not reliable and just an isolated case. However, the National Report Card of 2013 conducted by the United States arrived at the same conclusion and found that most students still do not exhibit any of the mathematics or reading skills and lack a solid academic performance (FOX19, 2013). There is much remain to be done to improve mathematic and reading as it is important to lay foundation for the future development of critical and logical thinking ability. And also there is a regional and state difference of the gap between the white students and the black counterparts. From this report, the gap was founded in Ohio wider than the last year (FOX19, 2013). There is always room for improvement. The mathematic and reading problems are that it emphasizes too much the subjectivity, individuality and creativity of students. In terms of ethnic problems, the states of United States have a lot of autonomy on the management of their educational affairs and have different situation of white and ethnic minorities, making the education of ethnic problems a troublesome one. Education of the minority group and the law should grant them the rights to use their own language in communication or use it during the shift to English, as language is a way of thinking and an identity marker. As for the families’ problems, it is called that the universal agreement should be made by the teachers and the students and spends more time to be with children and learn about the education issue.
✓My sister likes One Direction. [My sister=she](我妹妹喜欢单向乐队。) ✓Giovanni really loves swimming. [Giovanni=he](乔瓦尼真的很喜欢游泳。) ✓That restaurant serves Khmer food. 含有th的单词,如thank you、think、thought等。 ✓Would you pass me the water, please?(请把水递给我好吗?) ✓Please come this way.(请往这边走。) ✓More coffee? – Yes, please! Enjoy your meal! ✓My sister loves listening to music.(我妹妹爱听音乐。) Using -ing instead of -ed用动词-ing形式而非-ed形式 在一些语境中,I was boring这句话是无可指摘的,但是学生们想要表达的意思是: ✓I was very bored!(我感觉很无聊!) The woman goes to school,还是A woman goes to the school,抑或稍有差别的句子呢? Mixing up the present perfect and past simple将现在完成时和一般过去时弄混 现在完成时态跟其他语言中使用的方式不同,怎样正确使用也是许多学生头疼的地方。 ✓Last year we went to Thailand.(去年我们去了泰国。) Forming questions incorrectly提问错误 提问也会导致问题,因为,英语跟其他语言不一样,它经常变换词语的顺序(You are Peruvian变成Are you Peruvian?) (You like chocolate变成Do you like chocolate?) ✓How long are you staying (here for)? (i.e. looking into the future)你在这里要呆多久?(即展望未来) Or:✓How long have you been here? (i.e. looking into the past)? ✓She has been working here for three years.(她在这里工作了三年。) Using since instead of for用since而非for 学生们似乎总是将since的用法弄错。 since:自从: since: 1 o'clock/ Yesterday/ my birthday自从 一点钟/ 昨天/ 我的生日 for是在谈论一段时间时使用 for: a day/ two weeks/ the whole year 一天/两周/ 一整年 ✓I’ve been living in Tokyo for two months.(我在东京已经住了两个月。)
Abstract Shamanism is a folk belief activity that was developed on the basis of the original faith. It is a religion that is widely distributed all around the world. Shamanism imposed a significant impact on the believers’ production, life and social customs. The word “Shaman” originated from the Tungusic Evenki language of North Asia, so the religion was called “Shamanism”. The Shaman has been taken as the person who can control the weather, forecast the future, interpret dreams, treat diseases, enter into the supernatural world and communicate with spirits (Vitebsky2001: 3). The history and culture of Shamanism have been extensively discussed by religious scholars. Most scholars believe that Northeast Asia is the origin of Shamanism (Pollock 2015: 37-41), so this paper mainly discusses the culture and religious behavior of the Shamanism in this region. First of all, it introduces the emergence of the religion and discusses this religion’s main beliefs. Then, the next part of the paper is to discuss Tunguska Shamanism’s main beliefs, development process and current situation. Then it discusses thedevelopment process that Shamanism has experienced in the Northeast Asia region. No one can deny the existence of Shamanism in human history, but anotherunquestionable truth is that it rarely can hear people talking about this religion. What leads to this situation? The last part of this paper answers this question and analyzes the development of this religion. http://www.51due.net/writing/research-paper/sample31444.html Background onShamanism Shamanism can be seen as a primitive polytheism.People in ancient times integrate the unpredictable natural phenomena with their daily lives and endow them with human’s subjective consciousness. They admire the objects in the natural world and pray for their asylum. Hence, the fundamental theory of Shamanism is Animism. Admiring ancestors and the natural objects is Shamanism’s representative character. They believe that the universe is dominated by the God King. Also, for each specific natural object, it is controlled by corresponding dominator. Moundety controls mountains, Vulcan is in charge of the fire and Aeolus controls the wind. In addition to these natural objects, Shamans also admire various animals and plants, such as deer and tiger. Shamans believe that these spirits can impose direct impacts on human beings. (Eliade 2004: 3-7)Under certain circumstances, this religion also admires other spirits believed by other religions. Tracing the origin of the word “Shaman”, most scholars believe the emerging day should be back to the Fishing and Hunting Times. It comes from the southwestern dialect spoken by the Sym Evenki peoples. Later after that, the term is adopted by Russians and gradually disseminates all around the world.(Vitebsky 2001:3-8) As a kind of folk phenomenon, Shamanism has been widely distributed in all continents of the world. Voodoo in Haitian, totem worship among Indians, Sorcerer’s dance in a trance in the northeast part of China and the utilization of the psychedelic plants in Peru all demonstrate the culture of Shamanism. The fundamental features of the religion are that it doesn’t belong to any sects and it has neither patriarchs nor doctrines. It doesn’t have a specific organizational setup or centralized temples. Hence, strictly, Shamanism is not a religion. It should be taken as a kind of worldview or a form of belief. Due to the various culture backgrounds, the formation, rite and rule in different areas are varied from each other (Edson, 2009). However, all the Shamans in the world have certain common beliefs. Shamans believe the existence of the spirit world, however not all spirits are same. Some are benevolent spirits, while others are not. In Shamanism, the Shaman is the representative person and he/she can control these spirits. The Shaman has the following characters. Through communication with these spirits, the Shaman can assist the development of the tribe. It is said that the Shaman can enter into another state of consciousness and communicate with spirits through singing, dancing, beating drums and other insane methods. Normally, the Shaman can treat diseases caused by malevolent spirits, especially psychosomatic diseases. He/she is also responsible to assist other tribe members to deal with other difficulties and contradictions(Eliade 2004: 3-7). The Shaman’s spirit can leave his/her body and enter into the supernatural world to seek for answers. Practically, the Shaman can be a tribal chief, a religious leader or merely a doctor, but in most cases, he/she occupies an important position in the tribe. The existence of the Shaman relies on tribe. With the development of modern science and technology, the tribe society gradually disintegrates, so most traditional Shamans disappear. However, in some areas that haven’t been affected by the modern society, the Shaman still broadly exists. Neo-Shamanism, also named as New Shamanism, has become a newly developing religion (Vitebsky, 2001: 3-8). Integrated with the New Age Movement that occurred in the 1970s in the United States, Neo-Shamanism also plays an important role in modern society. However, in fact, most beliefs and theories do not have much direct relationship to the traditional Shamanism(Edson, 2009). Shamanism in the Northeast Asia Area Scholars believe that Shamanism is centralized in the Northeast Asia, Siberia, North American and other high northern latitude areas. Among these areas, the Northeast Asia is the core area of Shamanism. In this area, people who speak the Tunguska are typical Shamanism believers(Ibid.:3-8). Through understanding the historical development process of the nationalities in this region, it is easy to learn traditional Shamanism’s main connotation and its various forms. Shamanism believers worship the nature and their ancestors. Worship is Shamanism’s foremost feature and the believers worship numerous natural substances. First of all, in their minds, fire comes from the heaven and is the most holy, clean and cordial substance in the world. It can wash all uncleanness and expel all demons. All religious rites cannot get away from the fire. At the time of sacrifice, they have got used to offer some of their sacrifices to the God of Fire. Secondly, mountains, as the residence of their ancestors, dominate all kinds of animals. In ancient times, Turkic Khana, accompanied by tribal leaders, comes to the cave, which was inhabited by their ancestors, to hold religious rites. It is said that the mountain god can act as a tiger or an elder and help hunters when they are in trouble. In the hunting process, people should keep quiet, since the mountain god often wanders in the mountains. When hunting in forests or cliffs, people should pray to the god for good luck. Thirdly, they worship the moon, stars, thunder and lightning. The Ewenki nationality believes that all the kids are given by an old lady, who is lived in the place where the sun rises. Hence, during the Spring Festival, people fall down before the Sun god and pray that they can have a safe and smooth year. (Eliade 2004: 3-7) They also believe that the Big Dipper can bestow longevity, so kowtowing to it is also necessary. Rain God, also named as the Dragon King, has numerous scales. It is said that each scale is equipped with tons of water. When the Dragon King starts to watering, it begins to rain. Hence, every time the Daur people fish, they would like to sacrifice the Dragon King and pray for good harvest. The Oroqen people are forbidden to approach the trees that have been struck by lightning. They think that it would offend the lightning god and they would get diseases. Hence, in rainy days, they kowtow and pray for sunny days. Another significant character of the Tungus Shamanism is the integration of the faith-based organization and the clan organization. Ancestor belief is the outstanding character of the clan religion. All Tungus clans insist that they have a kinship with the Shaman and think that the clan ancestors or family ancestors are the source of the Shaman’s mysterious force. They also claim that their Shaman ability comes from the spirits of the dead ancestors. To accomplish the mission arranged by these dead ancestors, they become the Shaman and master the mysterious Shaman magic.(Eliade 2004: 3-7)From the perspective of the clan, the Shaman is the intermediary between the clan society and the gods. When facing any unexpected challenges, the Shaman acts as a server to help these helpless clan members. Shamanism is a tool to guarantee that the believers can have a normal life. Shamanism was emerged in the Fishing and Hunting time. Historically, Shamanism was the main spiritual belief of the Fishing and Hunting society and dominated people’s every aspect of life. Hunting life’s insecurity and instability made people unable to grasp their own destiny. People always felt anxiety when the quantity of prey decreased. They had to rely on the illusory witchcraft to obtain some kind of mental balance (Znamenski 2003: 148-157). “Soul-down to the bone”was the main objective pursued by the Shaman. Many Shamanism instructors take“worship to the Beast Master” as the ancient Shamanic phenomenon. “Beast Master” is the god who masters all beasts. People believe that as long as following the guidance of the mountain god, the godwill be willing to shelter human beings. In contrast, if offending the god, he will make you lost everything. For instance, the Oroqen nationality, one of the smallest ethnic minorities in China, holds a grand ceremony in every spring to tribute gods and prays that the whole clan can have a safe and smooth year (Balzer 1990: 34-37). Hence, these hunting nationalities actively adapt to the natural environment, and form a series of regular sacrificial rituals in accordance with the seasonal changes, animal growth patterns and lifestyles. Thus, in the hunting period, one of the most important characters of Shamanism is its close relationship to the economic life. Every important activity has been marked with the imprint of faith(Ibid.:34-37). In addition to the periodically economic works that have been protected by the god, all production activities that related to every aspect of people’s life have also been given the witchcraft meaning of Shamanism. For believers, Shamanism is a tool to guarantee that they can have a normal life. People use this tool to communicate with the gods and the supernatural power, and to deal with the obstacles they encounter in life (Znamenski 2003: 148-157). At that time, they cannot rely on personal techniques and social channels to solve these problems. Russia’s Eastward Expansion and the Orthodox imposed a serous effect on the Shamanism in Siberia and the Far East Area. At the end of the 16th century, affected by Russia’s eastward expansion and the Orthodox, there have been great changes taken place to the Shamanism in Siberia and the Far East area. Russia’s first target is the Khanate of Sibir. Through looting properties and killing tribal leaders, these colonists achieved the goal of conquering the locals. They also utilized various means, such as coercion and bribe, to differentiate the force of the indigenous and stabilized their dominance (Ibid.:148-157). What was worse, at this time, the Russia Orthodox Church came to this country. Through slandering and striking the religion that has been believed by the locals for numerous generations, they tried to divest the fundamentalspirits and cultural roots from these indigenous people’ lives (Balzer 1990: 34-37). Their ultimate goal was to make these locals submit to the colonial dominance of the Russia. To achieve this objective, first of all, the Orthodox Church attacked Shamanism in public and announced that the Shamans were greedy quacks who cooperated with the devils. The first batch of missionaries forced the indigenous toabandon their beliefs through coercive measures. For instance, FilofeiLeshinskiicoerced local indigenous people change their surnames and declare that they are Orthodox Christians (Ibid.:34-37). However, the Russians failed to achieve their goals. Even though these Siberian indigenous verbally declared that their faith is the Orthodox, in their minds, they still believed in Shamanism. Missionaries’ slander on the Shamans could not dispel the Shaman supporters. In the process of fusion with the Russian Orthodox Church, Shamanism has evolved into a more inclusive belief. Most believers have adopted the concepts of peace, love and humility (Znamenski 2003: 148-157). Meanwhile, Shamanism also integrated Orthodoxy’s religious symbols and ritual elements into its life-cycle rites. The cultural policy adopted by the Soviet Union also extensively affected the development of Shamanism. The October Revolution, occurred in 1917, created the world’s first socialist state, the Soviet Union. In the cultural aspect, the simplest and most crucial policies pursued by the Soviet Union were the implementation of a wide range of anti-religious attitudes and the dissemination of the atheism. The Soviet Union defined all religions as spiritual opiums that could corrode people’s minds. It also declared that all the religious privileges and restrictions had been abandoned, so after that, all the religious ideologies, including Shamanism, suffered from serious strike (Ibid.: 148-157). Labeled as psychiatric patients and even anti-government or anti-social people, some Shamans were sentenced to death. The impact that Shamanism has experienced in the movement is easy to imagine. An Analysis of the Development of Shamanism Both worship of the nature and polytheism are in accordance to the definition of Shamanism (Dox 2014: 114-119). Hence, it is reasonable to say that all nationalities in the world have experienced the Shamanism stage in their development process (Pollock 2015: 37-41). Some scholars even believe that Shamanism is the original form of all religions. However, with the development of the society, these nations move along different paths. Some nations maintain the faith of Shamanism and other derived religions for a long-term, while others abandon the religion gradually. It is undeniable that some mature religions that do not have direct inherited relationship with Shamanism even absorb some principles or ethics from this primitive religion.(Znamenski 2003: 148-157)Shamanism advocates the harmonious relationship between human beings, but it also emphasizes that forces should be used when dealing with problems. This religious philosophy imposes a profound influence on Shamanism believers.People who are living in the Northeast Asia still hold this folk. They are normally loyal to their friends and don’t care whether a person is rich or not. They rarely care about material interests. Because of this personality, comparing to the ones who haven’t affected by the philosophy of Shamanism, Northeast people do not have strong business sense. They retain the ancient custom of affectionate righteousness(Ibid.: 148-157). However, since Shamanism has no strict doctrines or canons and fails to form any united religious organizations, official politics rarely offer special privileges to this religion. It mainly lurks in people’s material and spiritual lives and exerts a noticeable effect on the people’s cultural psychology and nonphysical world. (Ibid.: 37-41) In the past few years, the culture of Shamanism should be taken as an invisible river. Through exerting an imperceptible influence on people’s thinking, it controls the flow of the folk culture to a great extent. Hence, from people’s behaviors or cultural customs, it is easy to notice whether Shamanism exists in a region or not. The Current Situation of Shamanism In the past several decades, as some scholars said, the wide spread of modern science, technology and education enforced the implementation of some new cultural norms and completely changed the social status of the Shaman (Vitebsky 2001:3-8). The expression of the modern knowledge challenged the contents transmitted by the Shamans and reduced the reliability of the Shaman to a great extent. That the dominant status of Shamanism got lost was a foregone conclusion. Nevertheless, the loss of the dominate position is not equal to the disappearance of the culture. Numerous facts occurred in the past several decades have indicated that this ancient tradition has a revival trend in the region of Siberia and the Northeast Asia (Ibid.: 3-8). In general, the current situation of Shamanism can be categorized into the following tendencies. First of all, in some areas, Shamanism has almost disappeared. Secondly, for a few societies or groups, especially the ones that haven’t been affected by the outside world, the tradition of Shamanism continued until now without any serious interruption. Thirdly, for the countries or regions that are in the early stage of the industrialization, Shamanism, as the edge culture, coexists with the mainstream culture and has a flourishing trend in some areas. Fourthly, the Shamanic tradition in some countries and religions got disappeared for certain reasons, while in recent years, it recovered or revived again. Conclusion Most modern people misunderstand the Shaman and the culture of Shamanism. They simply take it as a kind of feudal and superstition activity. In recent years, with the start-up of the rescue action on non-material cultural heritage and the development of the folk tourism resources, the culture of Shamanism attaches great attention from all walks of life. Ancient people wereunable to explain numerous mysterious natural phenomena, so they had to rely on divinities. From this perspective, it is easy to understand the dominant position of Shamanism. Even though all nationalities in the world have experienced the Shamanism stage in the development process, the various culture backgrounds results that the rites and rules they followed are not completely the same. This paper mainly illustrates the historical course of the Shamanism in the Northeast Asia. After understanding the whole process, it is easy to realize that although the development of science and technology has certain impact to this primitive religion and Shamanism is no longer this area’s dominant religion, people in this area still remain the cultural and spiritual traditions of Shamanism. As the old saying goes, “whenever you leave, trail remains behind”. Shamanism exits in the world for several years, so no one can absolutely deny the impact the theory has on people’s lives. As gutter oil has been spreading over a majority of tables in China, it is a subject for a number of researchers to study how it can be produced and what negative influence it can exert on people’ s health. To raise the public confidence in food safety, on October 13 2011, the National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment was set up and took charge of a project that pooled together six experts’ efforts to explore and test the five potential detection methods of refining waste oil. Their results proved gutter oil contained hazardous elements that exacted a heavy toll on health, as nutritionists warned that “such oil can damage the gastrointestinal tract if consumed occasionally, and trigger cancer after long-term consumption”. The Chinese government has been striving to crack down on recycling oil used in food, through establishing related researching institutions. http://www.51due.net/writing/essay/sample31442.html A decade ago, gutter oil emerged on tables in China and the government took steps to address this problem that triggered massive fear among people. However, to its disappointment, such refined waste oil has not been removed from tables. Rather, this disgusting food material has even become more extensive and harder to be told from healthy oil. As China is still a developing country that has not established improved law system to regulate oil industry well, an estimated 80 percent "gutter oil" in China is collected by unqualified enterprises or people. Thus, it is safe to say that China is facing a tough task that can be solved by joint efforts in all walks of life. Gutter oil is difficult to set apart from the ordinary oil in appearance. What is worse is that law breakers “are skillful at coping with the established standards” and they are capable of purifying waste oil to a standard level. That means those who produce harmful oil are so shrewd that it is difficult to punish them. What makes the presence thornier is that some Chinese restaurant owners even have signed long-term contract with recycling oil producers to sell leftover oil. As they behave that way, those greedy owners can make a big fortune from such trading. That can explain in part why recycling waste oil is so hard to be wiped out from tables. Chances are that you will eat gutter oil once in every 10 times you eat out in China——it is so popular in these days! However, such waste is not unfavorable in all aspects: it can be applied for industrial use, not cooking. If recycling oil is used soundly, it can save this country considerable costs in other industries that are not related to food. Amid such challenging situation, Chinese government does not just let it go——it has issued a host policies and punished a wave of law breakers. More than 100 criminals who commit to produce and market gutter oil were arrested and put in prison.
Britain exports old, creaky people and imports young, taxpaying ones. More than 100,000 British pensioners live it up in sunny Spain; meanwhile, up to 100,000 working-age Spaniards brave the British cold. http://www.51due.net/online-tutoring/writing-skills/sample31440.html 它们通过一系列的对比来突出英国目前移民和人口的现状: exports old, creaky people与imports young, taxpaying ones 对比(这里为了避免在一个句子里面重复使用两个people,所以用ones来代替);more than 100,000 British pensioners 与 up to 100,000 working-age Spaniards对比;live it up in sunny Spain与 brave the British cold对比(其中 live it up 是一个短语,含义是“享乐,玩乐”,brave 这里作动词用,属于熟词生义,含义是“勇敢地面对”)。 She and millions of Koreans may dream of reunification but nearly 70 years of division have taken the edge off the pain even of family separation. They have produced two different peoples—one poor, isolated and downtrodden; one well-off, cosmopolitan and free. The second argument concerns individualism. In an age when individualistic thinking waxes, the persuasive power of advertising wanes. wax 类似 wax and wane 这样的词还有 boom and bust, virtue and vice, friend and foe 等,写作的时候可以灵活应用。 2、verb 要表达“……对某人来说太贵”,我们一般说 sth. is too expensive for sb. 下面这个句子可以提供一个新表达(来自文章 Class warfare): But Shelly Asquith of the National Union of Students cautions that poor students are sometimes priced out of expensive university halls and thus end up living in the cheapest private places available, which hinders student mixing. 1) Many white-collar workers find themselves being priced out of the housing market as property prices are scaling new heights. 2) Apple's new MacBook Pro is pricing ordinary consumers out of the market. 3、buy and sell 下面这个选段也是一个关于动词使用的例子(来自The Economist Essay: The Mekong): The human diversity is striking, too: Tibetan monks pray; Burmese traders buy and sell; Cambodian fishermen cast nets; Thai farmers reap; Vietnamese markets float. The history is as rich as the soil. Flying high: Are stockmarkets in a bubble? Stocks may fly high for some time yet, but investors should keep a parachute handy. Stocks may fly high for some time yet, but investors should be cautious. Stocks may fly high for some time yet, but investors should keep a weather eye on them. XX has a long history. The key to success in the luxury market, explains Mr Müller-Ötvös, is that customers want to be able to tell their friends, family and business associates some good stories about what they have bought. For a brand as steeped in history as Rolls-Royce, that is no problem. Beijing is a great city that is steeped in history and tradition. -ZR |
